The church started up in 1835 as an offshoot of the Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church north of Laurinburg. It is one of four churches that has roots in that church. Two of the four are Methodist churches. The wooden structure is the original church. On the east side of the church is a brick addition that serves as the educational annex and fellowship hall. Families that attend services there today are descendants of the original families that initiated the church in 1835.
