The pill box is an octagonal design made from reinforced concrete. Roger Davies describes it on the Geograph website:visit link

'An unusual octagonal pillbox of reinforced concrete construction with 8 embrasures. Unlike the standard type FW/3 27 it has no central well for an anti-aircraft weapon. A blast wall protects a low entrance in its western side suggesting that its role was primarily to defend an attack from the south along the River Severn. Although a fine observation platform, the numerous embrasures appear to offer little protection for the occupants although a small oblong anti-ricochet wall exists (which may possibly have been inserted as an afterthought as a support for the roof).'
