The Sherman W. Lowry Post of the VFW is in the south half of a large brick building. The Brunswick Masonic Lodge 191, A.F.& A.M. occupies the other half of the building.
On April 26, 2000, Sherman W. Lowry received the French Chevalier Legion of Honor medal for his participation in World War I on French soil. He passed away less than a month later on May 15, 2000 at the age 102.
