The flag is white with a blue and yellow strip on the top and bottom. Blue is on the bottom to represent the southern border of the city with the Pacific Ocean and the yellow represents the main tourism for the city, the beaches. The city logo is in the center, which has swordfish and sailboats. Sailboats can be seen in the Newport Harbor and swordfish can be fished from the Newport Beach Pier.
The city hall was recently built, just completed in late 2013. The area used to be an empty lot, just collecting dust, but a few hundred million dollars later and this area became completely developed. Consisting of a main building with a wavy roof and a library to the south. Just to the north of the complex there is a 6 acre park that has many trails, geocaches, and bridges. Parking is free. Nearby at Fashion Island you can enjoy a large shopping district, or to many people it was the site of the 1956 Boy Scouts of America Jamboree, before it was developed into a shopping center.
