Marker Name: Westbourne Cemetery Languages: English Location: In Westbourne Cemetery On Hwy 242, 1.2 km southwest of Hwy 16 Marker Text: Westbourne Cemetery Consecrated - Sept. 24, 1861 Historical site of the first Anglican Mission station, built in 1859 by the Reverend Henry George. It was the most western extension of the Church Missionary Society situated in the White Mud River Settlement near the “First Crossing”. Bishop Anderson named this mission “Westbourne” after their first Anglican missionary, the Reverend John West. Parish Lot No. 9 also included the church mission, parsonage, and school.
