Because of its location in the outlying reaches of the county, the volunteer firemen decided that they needed a helipad for emergencies in the area for quick evacuation of sick and injured persons. They set about raising the money through their annual turkey shoot. From just before Thanksgiving on Friday and Saturday nights they light up the fire barrel to stay warm and folks through out the area stop by to shoot for a prize. Money earned from this fund raiser quickly added up and they got their helipad.
