The Jacobs house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and constructed in 1937. It is considered to be the first Usonian home.

Owned by Herbert Jacobs who was a newspaperman. He challenged his acquaintance Frank Lloyd Wright, to design a home for $5,000. Wright took the challenge, designing a L shape home with an open floor plan. The house contained 2 bedrooms. The Jacobs did move in, however commissioned Wright to build a second home, Jacobs II. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2003.
