The design is distinctly FLW, however after the initial design phase was complete, Wright took off for Europe with his mistress Mamah Bothwick. This left Marion Mahoney Griffin to complete the home, however she added her own interpretation of the Prairie Style. The Fords were also in Europe and upon their return they fired Griffin and hired Joseph Nathaniel French to complete the work on the final stages. Of course he added his own touches, which gave the property a English Manor look and feel.
