The plaque reads "This Japanese stone lantern, or "Ishi Dohroh," symbolizes the sister city friendship maintained for years between Hino, Tokyo, and Redlands, California. It is also a tribute to the late Toshiko Nakada, an educator and grassroots advocate, who tirelessly contributed to the promotion of Sister City spirit and cross-cultural understanding between Japanese and American youths."
