To locate Valley Cemetery: Travel S turn on Hwy. 1 before Drummond, go 4.2 km to E. Mullan Trail turn W 2.5 km from turn off. Continue on the dirt road N to cemetery. Directions are from Hwy. 90/12. Coordinates are at the dirt road.

The Valley Cemetery is a community Cemetery located in Granite County. There are approximately 1,265 gravesites. The Valley Cemetery was established around the 1880. There are records of 17 interments between 1800 to 1885. From 1886 to 1899 there are an additional 58 interments.
This was at one time known as Drummond Cemetery ND New Chicago Cemetery. The community of New Chicago is now a ghost town. Several interments are listed as taken place there.
Of these, are some interesting history of individuals who had violent deaths, suicides and deaths from diphtheria and typhoid fever; which were mostly children. During the mid 1800s there were hundreds of thousands of adults and children that succumbed from these pandemics.
