This is a survey disc that has gone AWOL. We suspect that it had a little help in making its escape.

On the east side of the old Montana Hotel, at the base of each of the round pillars is (was) a benchmark. This, a benchmark disc, has been forcibly removed from the south pillar, leaving only its shank. The other, at the base of the north pillar, is carved into the stone at the base, the marking being BM 5329.26.
The hotel, at one time known as the Daly Hotel, as it was built by Marcus Daly, the Anaconda Copper King, is on the west side of Main Street, on the corner of Main and Park Streets. It is directly north of the Post Office.
