This park was a well-enjoyed city park until that devastating F5 tornado ripped through Moore on May 20, 2013. The park was destroyed, with few landmarks visible. But, the City of Moore has enacted a temporary sales tax to refurbish and improve the park. With a generous donation by Devon Energy, this project is well underway. Estimated to take about three years and include two new playgrounds, a sprayground, fitness station and memorial plaza, the work has begun in earnest over this past year.
This is a 52-acre park with two fishing ponds, picnic areas and a one-mile walking trail. The park is bordered on the north by S.W. 4th and on the south by S.W. 10th. The renovations include widening the trails, and improving the pond facilities, as well as constructing two playgrounds and a water fun facility.
The resilience of the Moore people is once again on display as they rebuild their town and put it back on the map.
