The memorial is a small concrete sign, with doves flanking the header:
Memorial
Joseph Warren Tanner
1915-2004
Bro. "Bud" Was a longtime member and deacon at Lonesome Dove, a kind, compassionate, and diligent worker who loved the Lord.

Interestingly, there is a memorial to a Eunice Tanner on the cemetery fence. She's buried in Grapevine Cemetery with her son, "Buddy," so it is possible that Joseph was husband and father to them.
The adjacent Lonesome Dove Baptist Church served as an inspiration to author Larry McMurtry, who saw a church van with the name on the side while he was at an Oklahoma restaurant. And so, McMurtry's novel became "Lonesome Dove."
