"The $100,000 sculpture is the final component of a larger $850,000 project honoring Fulbright that includes the Fulbright Peace Fountain dedicated Oct. 24, 1998.
Fulbright served as University President from 1939 to 1941; and began a 30 year career in the U.S. Sentate in 1945. He played a leadership role in forming the United Nations and established The Fulbright Scholarship Program in 1946 to promote international understanding trhough global exchange of University students and teachers."
