Located in the heart of the Eisenhower Medical Center property and near the Uihlein Administration Building is a small, circular rose garden containing five stars and a plaque. The five stars represent the five stars that General Eisenhower wore during WWII (a temporary rank given to generals in a major war)) and have become the symbol of the Medical Center over the decades. The plaque reads:
KATHLEEN WAYCOTT
MEMORIAL ROSE GARDEN
Dedicated by
THE EISENHOWER MEDICAL CENTER
AUXILIARY
In honor of its Past Presidents
1995
I could find very little information online regarding 'Kay' Waycott but I did locate a PDF document that highlights the history of the Auxiliary organization's volunteer work for the Medical Center over the decades. Waycott was the organization's first chairwoman in its inception in 1969 with its first president elected in 1970. Numerous individuals gave their valuable time to promote the Eisenhower Medical Center and Waycott was one of those individuals. She was memorialized with this rose garden after her passing in 1994.
