This large Historic District includes a 3-block business district on both side of Main Street, an early industrial area near the Waits River falls and a large residential area north and west of the business district.
The most prominent building along Main Street is the Richardsonian Romanesque style, Woods Library Building designed by Lambert Packard of St. Johnsbury and built in 1894-95. The impressive, irregularly-shaped brick building is still used as a library today.
Less orate, but still impressive is the Bank Block on Main Street at Bank Street. Also designed by Lambert Packard and built in 1891 for the Bradford Savings Bank and Trust Company, this 3-story, brick commercial block features a conical-roofed 2-story copper-sheathed turret on the truncated northeast corner above the main entrance.
