Per a nearby Texas historical marker, "Originally known as Du Pre, Buda was founded along a line of the International and Great Northern Railroad. Cornelia A. Trimble gave land for the townsite in 1881." While no further information was discovered via internet search, it appears that the Town of Buda authorized a survey of the original boundary line in 1989. This bronze marker was observed in the sidewalk at corner of Ash and Main Streets next to a brick antique store.
