The NRHP application relays that:
Of many beautiful views in San Marcos, that from the Barber House may be the loveliest. The setting on the wooded Balcones Fault bluff is perfect for the asymmetrical, twostory, white, frame Victorian house. Dominating the front, southeast facade is a double gallery extending the entire length and around the eastern section that surrounds a fivesided ell bay. The flat part of the porch is composed of three bays. Porch rails on both levels are jigsawn panels. The under-cave trim is simple little sticks in a double row on the second floor, in a single row on the first. Chamfered posts support the porch and sport sawn brackets. The wooden steps and porch floor remain intact.

Note: Minor error in the NRHP database for the street address which shows as 100 Burleson Street instead of "1000".

It's a challenge and expensive to maintain a historical house. The property is in average condition with other homes on the hillside in better shape. No parking available on the roadway.
