The Easthampton Commission on the Arts selected local artists Carolyn Clayton and Benjamin Westbrook to create a unique bicycle rack at the access to the Manhan Rail Trail on Union Street. The abstract sculpture uses steel tubing to fabricate seven asymmetrical brightly colored polygons. A design contest was held to choose the winners who received a $2,500 honorarium.
Carolyn Clayton was quoted as saying that the sculpture was a collaboration of their styles. “Ben is interested in organic forms and asymmetry, while I tend to work with more angular structures and bold color.”
