The group consisted of 700 privileged Jews (~ 500 in Barneveld) who were selected based on their role in world War I or their social position. The Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. KJ Frederiks has played an important role and has managed to make appointments with Schmidt, the German Nazi Party representative in the Netherlands, and so the SS sidelined. After their deportation (shortly after the death of Schmidt) in 1943, they were later exchanged in 1944 and ended up in Switzerland.
