In 1906, a monthly meeting of the Friends was established in what has since become Greenleaf. The first meetings were held by Anson Cox in the Brown home. The original building was a wooden structure which was started in 1907 and finished by 1908.
The stone church was started in September 1943 after the government approved the use of rationed building materials. The stone for the outside walls of the building came from the area of the Owyhee Reservoir dam. The cornerstone was sealed in 1944 and the building was finished sometime after that.
The current church is attached to the Greanleaf Friends Academy which is also on site and offers K-12 education.
