J. T. and Ellen Elizabeth Tipper were among the earliest homesteaders in the Yahk area. J.T.'s certificate of pre-emption was dated September 18th, 1906. He later was joined by his wife and son.

Ellen Elizabeth Tipper continued to live in the area and became an active member of the community. The Ellen Tipper Memorial Park is named in her honor.

The park consists of about two acres and is very rustic consisting of towering pine trees and other evergreens. There is a foot path located on two sides of the perimeter.

There is a small handmade sign indicating the location of the park.

Ellen Elizabeth Tipper was born 1876 and passed away in 1971 at age of 95.

Their son Phillip was born in 1903 and later married Ellen A. Tipper.

Phillip Tipper passed away in 1999. His wife, Ellen A. Tipper, was born in 1914 and passed away in 1989.
