"Windborne The Phoenix", aka The Feather by Keir Smith.
This was commissioned for the 1986 Stoke-On-Trent National Garden Festival, which was the second of only 5 National Garden Festivals in Britain. It was held in the city from 1st May to 26th October 1986, and was opened by the Queen. Preparation of the site involved the reclamation of land formerly occupied by the Shelton Bar steelworks (1830 - 1978).
The area is now a retail, leisure and business park known as Festival Park.
This waymark is close to a footpath but if you don't know it's there you can easily miss it as the carving has it's back facing the path.
