Originally Western Pacific #618 (WP 618) this composite (steel and wood) cabooses were converted from 15001 - 16000 series outside braced Pullman Standard box cars in 1938. It was re-numbered as Sacramento Northern 1639 (SN 1639). Sacramento Northern was a wholly owned subsidiary of the WP. (visit link) The Sacramento Northern Railway (reporting mark SN) was a 183-mile (295 km) electric interurban railway connecting Chico in northern California with Oakland via the California capital, Sacramento. It operated on the streets of Oakland, Sacramento, Yuba City, Chico, and Woodland and ran passenger service until 1941 and freight service into the 1960s.
