On 12 March 2014 between 0625 and 0631 the International Space Station made a pass over Texas. The ISS was visible for a total of 6 minutes.
Site 1 is Donna TX (in the Rio Grande Valley). Site 2 is Garland TX (In North Texas). Donna is 530 miles away from Garland TX.
At 06:28:28 the ISS was at its highest point in the sky over Garland TX -- 56 degrees over the horizon. The ISS was at a magnitude of -2.7, so it was very obvious.
The sky in Garland was clear, and thankfully the temperatures were not too cold.
8Nuts Mother Goose posted this wonderful experience of today's pass in their log:
"There was a bit of fog in the air this morning, I could only see one or two stars. The ISS suddenly lit up right through that haze as it came out of the Earths shadow.
An early morning walker passed by me and I pointed it out to her. About 1 minute later, the ISS was at enough angle the fog made it disappear.
My listed Viewing time was 06:26:38 to 06:30:14. Highest point was 69 degrees at 06:26:55. Brightness was -3.4. My viewing point was in Donna, TX at N26 10.326 W98 04.670."
Mama Blaster was all alone except for the barking dogs. Other Blasterz were snug in bed. We have all have seen the ISS so many times they decided to pass on this early morning viewing.
Mama Blaster used both the Heavens Above website and the GoISSWatch iPhone app.
