The Troutville Rest Area is located Exits 162 and 156 in Botetourt County, Virginia. This rest area is accessible from the southbound lanes only. It is rather small with parking for less than 15 commercial vehicles and about 25 passenger car spaces. Virginia has a 2-hour parking limit in all of its rest area’s. The attendant or the State Police enforces the limit. During the nighttime hours this rest area often becomes over crowded with commercial vehicle parking on both the entrance and exit lanes. Like many Virginia Rest Areas, this one is rather old, and it is showing it’s age.
The main building has recently been renovated (spring 2007) and has reopened to the public. Parking is still limited at times and this rest area is often full of commercial vehicles, especially late at night and early morning hours.
