The students of Kettle Falls' schools have mounted a memorial plaque in front of the High School, dedicated at present to three noteworthy past citizens of the town.

The three are Freddie Houck, Doug Lickfold and Orville P. Brown. The plaque is mounted on a large white marble boulder, adjacent to another bronze plaque for the school bell which is mounted beside the boulder.

Freddie Houck and his wife Helen were the proprietors of Freddie’s Restaurant in Kettle Falls. Freddie was also active in the Boy Scouts as a troop committee member. Fred Houck was born on Friday, January 19th, 1906 in Georgia and passed away in April of 1973 in Kettle Falls.

Douglas Lee Lickfold, a student of Kettle Falls High School, was born on July 23, 1962. He passed away at the age of 17 on October 12, 1979. He is interred in the Meyers Falls Cemetery, at the west end of West Seventh Avenue. A scholarship fund has been created in his honor.

Orville P. Brown was born on October 30, 1909 and passed away on March 24, 1992 at the age of 82.
