Erstarrungsgesteine (“Magmatite”)
Umwandlungsgesteine (“Metamorphite”)
Ablagerungsgesteine (“Sedimentite”)

All the glacial erratic boulder in the bay area has been transported by glaciers from North (e.g. Sweden) during the last ice age about 11.000 years ago. The boulder is much older, because the glaciers did a kind of shaping very, very old nordic mountains. Even the sand at Scharbeutz beach consists of quartz coming from the north.
In the info station there are 10 different stones shown in a wall. The youngest one is about 63 million years old and the oldest one about 1,8 billion years.
There are 4 different stone types shown coming from the famous three stone categories:
Igneous rock
Metamorphic rock
Sedimentary Rock
Type of Display: Geological
