Coity Parish Church of St Mary, is surrounded by ancient & modern graves. The church was completed by the early 14th century, although it is known that Christian worship & burials were being conducted on this site for nearly a thousand years.

The church follows a typical cruciform design, common to Norman churches of its age. It sits in the shadow of Coity Castle, an important Norman stronghold. The church has a chancel that is almost as long as the nave.
