Dette minderelief blev opsat i 1965 til ære for Ole Rømer (1644-1710)Relieffet er udført af Olaf Stæhr Nielsen. Ole Rømer blev født i Aarhus og blev student fra Aarhus Katedralskole i 1662. I 1676 påviste han lysets hastighed udfra observationer af en af jupiters måner. I 1681 blev han udnævnt til leder for observatoriet i Rundetårn.
Commemorative relief for Ole Rømer 1644-1710, astronomer.
In Paris in 1676 he presented his calculations of the precise speed of light demonstrated by observations of the moons of Jupiter. In 1681 he was appointed head of the Round Tower Observatory and the king's mathematician.
The commemorative relief was created by the artist Olaf Stæhr Nielsen and erected in 1965.
