At some point in the recent past the village of Slocan saw fit to build the children of the town a great playground, which occupies fully one quarter of a city (village) block.

Possibly the playground has been at this site for eons and was just in serious need of renovation, but in any event this sure is a big playground for such a small community (population about 300). They must have a lot of kids. It consists of a large fenced grassy area with the fun elements each set on its own pea gravel rectangle.
The fun elements include swings, slides, climbing equipment, little kiddy Ride-Em animals and even a merry-go-round. There is, as a pièce de résistance, even a helicopter to ride on.
Given that all the equipment is fabricated from tube steel for the most part, we suspect that the town is home to a talented welder who bashed all this stuff together evenings and weekends in his well equipped shop.
In one corner, by a maintenance shed is a drinking fountain, but there are no washrooms here.
