Benchmark located in the wall of the main tower of Turaida Castle.
Turaida castle is an impressive red brick construction located in the bank of the river Gauja in Sigulda.
The castle was built in the 13th century, but in 1776, a fire destroyed the buildings, it was not reconstructed and fell into ruins. In the beginning of the 20th century reconstruction and restoration works started, and the castle has regained part of its earlier shape.
