The First English Lutheran Church was built in 1897. The church was designed by the architectural firm of (Franzheim, Giesey & Faris. The stone and brick church are in a Victorian-Romanesque Revival style. The church features massive arched stone door and window window opens. The church building appears to be in good condition and continues to serve its active congregation.
The building is a contributing building in the Wheeling Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
