The Main Branch of the Humboldt County Library is located in Eureka at 1313 Third Street. In 1915, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors created the County Free Library system to serve county residents outside the cities of Eureka, Ferndale, and Arcata which had their own libraries. With the completion of this building in 1972 the Humboldt County Library system consolidated all libraries in the county.
