Folsom Lake was part of the California Central Water Project.
This included storage, flood prevention, and power generation at Shasta Lake, Whiskeytown, Oroville, and here. It provided acres of recreation. Over 11,000 acres in lake.
It was operated by the Federal Bureau of Reclamation. State Recreation Areas are operated by consignors. Fees are $12. admission to the park. Plus launch fee or annual permit.
Sometimes this has been a great place for sail boats.
It can also be a rough lake and not so suitable for swimming or diving because of visibility. It is under surveillance of the U S Coast Guard. Mussel quarantine in effect.
