There are two memorial brass plaques at the northeast corner of SW Morrison and SW Broadway. This is the site of the FIRST Public School Building erected by taxation in Portland in 1858. It became the Central School Building. Use was discontinued in 1885. From this small building grew Portland's public school system.Instructions for logging waymark: A photograph is required of you (or your GPS receiver, if you are waymarking solo) and the Brass Plaque (Oregon State).
