This project is excellent. The Ranger is very proud of it. He told me the Scout took NO short cuts and was VERY professional.
The starting point has a beautiful plaque/sign displaying the route and some instructions. There is a pamphlet holder attached to the plaque.
The pamphlet is two sided and if the box is empty, see the Rangers. They will get one for you. AND If you do not have a compass, the plaque instructs you to see the Rangers (They have compasses available TO BORROW for practice at the office too!)
The course is a 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) loop. There is a 100 meter pace count course as well. The pamphlet guides you through all the steps required to learn how to do basic orienteering (Line of bearing) with a compass.
