The "Battlefield" in South of Corrençon, recalls the famous battle where the Bishop of Die was defeated by the counts of Sassenage in the fifteenth century (1410). The purpose of the battle was to extend their respective boundaries.
The Vercors is a range of plateaux and mountains in the départements of Isère and Drôme in the French Prealps. Cliffs at its eastern edge face the city of Grenoble. The Vercors has several resorts for cross-country skiing and for down-hill skiing. Villard-de-Lans at 5 km from Corrençon-en-Vercors is the biggest down-hill ski resort.
