The church is the seat of the bishop of the 'Diazöse Rottenburg-Stuttgart'.
The tower has been built 1486-91.
A big reconstruction hads been made after 1644.
Since 1828 the church is used as seat of the bishop.
In 1977/78 and 2001-03 there had been big interior renovations.
The actual bishop since 2000 is Gebhard Fürst.
