Ce bâtiment érigé en 1889 abritera au tout début deux commerces. C'est Ulysse Bail qui le tranformera en magasin général en 1894 en s'associant à Ernest Sabourin sous la raison social de Bail & Sabourin. Cette association sera de courte durée puisqu'Osa Normandin achète la part de Sabourin en 1897 et se joint à Normandin pour former Bail & Normandin.
En 1909, Osa Normandin, jusqu’à ce jour associé en commerce avec Ulysse Bail mais non propriétaire de la bâtisse, acquiert la moitié des titres de propriété.
En 1915 comme c’était fréquent à l’époque, le bureau de poste se situait dans le magasin général. Ulysse Bail sera maître de poste de 1915 à 1931, suivi par Osa Normandin jusqu'en 1945.
Gisèle, fille d’Osa Normandin, et Jean-Paul Decelles se portent acquéreurs du commerce en 1945 et y ajoutent le service de boucherie.
Le bâtiment abrite aujourd'hui une clinique dentaire et un salon de coiffure. Le paysage a bien changé comme le témoigne la photo. On se ne promène plus à cheval mais en voiture et les poteaux électriques ont disparus, les fils sont maintenant enfouis.
This building erected in 1889 houses at the beginning two shops. It is Ulysse Bail who turned it into a general store in 1894 by teaming up with Ernest Sabourin under the corporate name of Bail & Sabourin . This association will be short since Osa Normandin buys from Sabourin in 1897 its part and joined Bail to form Bail & Normandin .
In 1909 , Osa Normandin, only partner with Ulysses Bail but not the owner of the building , acquires half of the title .
In 1915 , as was common at the time, the post office was in the general store. Ulysses Bail will serve as postmaster from 1915 to 1931 , followed by Osa Normandin until 1945.
Gisele, daughter of Osa Normandin, and Jean-Paul Decelles acquire ownership in 1945 and are added service butcher .
The building now houses a dental clinic and a hair salon. The landscape has changed as evidenced by the photo. We are no longer driving horse carriage and utility poles have disappeared since the electrical wires are now underground.
