O divadelnictví na Mostecku máme první písemnou zprávu již z roku 1681, kdy zástupce reditele potvrzuje prevzetí penez pro spolecnost - Tehdejší divadlo - ci spíše atrakcní predstavení artistu a kejklíru, které se konalo na bývalém predmestí Václavice. Zacátkem 18. století usilovali studenti o založení divadelního kroužku , ale o jejich pusobení nemáme písemné zprávy.
Prelomem v historii Mosteckého divadelnictví byla výstavba nové divadelní budovy, kterou si vynutilo nemecké meštanstvo pro svou zábavu a která byla po neshodách a diskusích o jejím umístení, postavena podle projektu architekta Alexandra Grafa v roce 1911. Slavnostní otevrení probehlo 30. zárí 1911.
V listopadu 1985 byla otevrena nová budova divadla.
The history of the professional theatre in Most started to be recorded on 30 September 1911, when an art-nouveau building, built under a project of the Vienna architect Alexander Graf, was ceremonially opened here.
In November 1985 a new theatre building, designed by the architect Ivo Klimeš of Ostrava, was opened in Most. Its auditorium can hold five hundred spectators, and the stage is equipped with modern stage technology and technique.
