A very detailed and lifelike bronze sculpture of an Alligator, approx. 14 feet long, with a man appearing to ride on its back, supposedly wrestling the Alligator. There are two Alligator sculptures in the Plaza, in front of the History Centre.
The Plaque in the plaza relating to the sculptures reads,
'Alligator Sculptures. Craig T Ustler'
Craig is a property developer who commissioned the sculptures. Many web sites credit him with being the Sculptor.
"Alligator Wrestler
For a piece of history, you will need to travel back in time to the N/S, E/W center of
Orlando’s street system where a man sits outside wrestling an alligator.
The sculptor, Scott Shaffer, is a Colorado native who uses his degree in Natural Sciences to full
effect by creating incredibly detailed bronze animal sculptures. He began sculpting in
1987 and then became a full-time artist in 1994. His work was selected to be included
in the Cypress Gardens Wildlife Sculpture Series for four consecutive years." Text Source: (
