Der City-Tunnel Leipzig ist ein Eisenbahnprojekt zur Umgestaltung des Schienenpersonennahverkehrs im Eisenbahnknoten Leipzig. Kernstück ist eine im Jahr 2013 fertiggestellte zweigleisige, elektrifizierte Hauptbahn, die von Leipzig Nord nach Leipzig Bayerischer Bahnhof führt. Sie unterquert zwischen dem Leipziger Hauptbahnhof und dem Bayerischen Bahnhof die Innenstadt in einem Tunnel. Dieser besteht aus zwei eingleisigen Röhren sowie vier unterirdischen Stationen. Darüber hinaus sind umfangreiche netzergänzende Maßnahmen zur Ertüchtigung der zuführenden Strecken und Stationen ein Bestandteil des Projekts.
Der Tunnel wird von nahezu allen Linien des neuen Netzes der S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland befahren werden. Durch Angebotsverbesserungen und – vor allen Dingen in Nord-Süd-Richtung – schnellere Verbindungen soll die Attraktivität des Öffentlichen Personennahverkehrs gesteigert werden.
Die Bauarbeiten begannen im Juli 2003, die Inbetriebnahme war zunächst für Ende 2009 geplant. Der Tunnel soll am 14. Dezember 2013 feierlich eröffnet werden, der fahrplanmäßige Betrieb am 15. Dezember 2013 beginnen. Die Kosten des Projekts belaufen sich auf 960 Millionen Euro.
