The cinema stands next to the church and was opened by them partly as a way of fund raising but also as a way to try and control the type of films the congregation watched.

It only operated as a cinema for 9 years and so only ever showed silent movies.

After it closed as a cinema it was used for many years as a church hall. By the early 21st Century the numbers of people attending the church had fallen and the church closed in 2006. The old cinema is now called the St. Mary's Centre and is used as a feeding station for homeless people on Friday mornings. Bradford Homeless Information
