Kateri Tekakwitha (Tekakwitha: "The advancing hesitantly" in the Iroquois language, 1656-1680, also known as "lily of Mohawks1") was born in Ossernenon on the banks of the Mohawk River, now located in the State New York is a young Agnière converted to Christianity.
A new decree on miracles is signed in December 2011 and then declared a saint by the Catholic Church. She became the first Native North American to be canonized, a ceremony which took place October 21, 2012 and officiated in Rome by Pope Benedict XVI.
Kateri Tekakwitha (Tekakwitha : « Celle qui avance en hésitant » en langue iroquoise ; 1656 - 1680; aussi connue comme le « lys des Mohawks1 ») est née à Ossernenon sur les rives de la rivière Mohawk, aujourd'hui située dans l'État de New York, est une jeune Agnière convertie au christianisme.
