Applebee's on Campus Drive is the Dan O'Brien Olympic Hall of Fame wall. This wall of honor contains many framed pictures of O'Brien sponsoring many consumer products, including the ever-popular Wheaties. There are also a pair of track shoes signed by O'Brien in a glass case, among other memorabilia.
Dan O'Brien grew up in Klamath Falls and attended Henley High School, setting many track records along the way. He would later attempt to compete in the decathlon at the 1992 Summer Olympics but missed out during the Olympic trials by failing to clear the high beam in the pole vault. He spent the next few years dedicating himself to training for the '96 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He easily qualified at the Olympic Trials the second time and ended up winning the gold medal in the decathlon, the 'premier' Olympic event at the Summer games in Atlanta.
Wikipedia has a nice bio on Dan O'Brien here.
In addition to his former high school alma mater (Henley) naming their football/track and field after him, the City of Klamath Falls also named a street after him, Dan O'Brien Way, that connects Hwy 97 to Oregon Institute of Technology a short distance from here.
