The building is an English Heritage Grade II
listed building. It was erected in 1859, completed in 1862 and designed by Mr R C Reeves, the County Court Surveyor.
The stone heads are finely carved and form the keystones of the arches of the windows.
The building became a pub in 1990 until 2000 when it became empty. It was then converted to luxury apartments in 2010.
