Across the street from City Hall is a war memorial to those who served and serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. At the front of the granite pillars is a sculpture of a kneeling soldier, in uniform, with his head bowed and his hand on his helmet which is laying at his side.

The sculpture is life sized and mounted on a white marble base. On the four sides of the base are engraved:

FAR FROM HOME,
BUT NEVER ALONE
WE WILL REMEMBER
