This West Prong Trail is 2.7 miles long, running from this trailhead to a junction with the Bote Mountain Trail. Roughly 2 miles from the trailhead is a creek crossing without a footbridge - only a few rocks and logs. At the Bote Mountain Trail junction a hiker can turn right or left. A right turn will lead to Laurel Creek Road in 1.2 miles, while a left turn will lead up to the Appalachian Trail at Spence Field, roughly 5.7 miles away.
