Washington, being on the west coast, was probably a bit more paranoid than the rest of the country during WWII. As a result, most small towns had air raid sirens well before the rest of the US.

This siren definitely looks to be of that vintage, and was certainly repurposed to warn against nuclear attack 10 years later. It is near the centre of town, mounted high atop a pole at the fire station on Summit Avenue. Though this siren looks much the worse for wear, it's certain that the small town of Northport was always able to find better uses for its money than frivolous expenditures such as sirens.
